Welcome To New Germany
By Jason Kamerud, Mayor of New Germany
First, let me welcome you to the City of New Germany I’m sure you’ll love it here!
New Germany is celebrating its 125th anniversary in summer of 2012. The city of New Germany is a rural town with a long, rich history of civic pride and community connection things we value and maintain today.
While New Germany cherishes its past, we are keeping an eye on the future and it looks bright! We are currently in the planning and development stages of an infrastructure overhaul. The water and sewer lines, roadways, gutters and curbs are being replaced. Plus, we are positioned to build a state-of-the-art water treatment facility to provide the highest quality drinking water available. These projects, while financially challenging, offer tremendous opportunities for the city to accommodate future growth and development.
New Germany offers several community parks with such amenities as ball fields, concession stand, playground equipment and horseshoe pits.
Also, the city is a trailhead destination for Carver County Parks Dakota Rail Regional Trail, a 44 mile railroad corridor running through Hennepin, Carver and McLeod counties.
There are numerous opportunities to become involved in community service through the planning commission, volunteer fire department, parks, or commercial club. There are also plenty of opportunities to engage and interact with your neighbors through athletic leagues and city events. I encourage you to participate. Contact the New Germany city offices for specific information.
I am so pleased that you have chosen New Germany. As your mayor, I am committed to the residents and businesses of New Germany and I will work diligently to encourage and support responsible governance and community growth and development.
